Use the MSTP Info flexview in Netsight to check that all the switches have the
same Config Digest. The Config Digest is created from The Config Name (Case
sensitive and beware of leading and trailing spaces), the Revision number in
the NST configuration and also all of the VLAN IDs that are on each switch.
Note that all switches in the MSTP group must have the same VLANs configured on
them.

You should have only one Spantree Root Bridge. It appears you need to map out
your entire Spantree topology. Also, you might want to implement a syslog
server to see messages from your switches relative to port changes that can
trigger Spantree topology changes. You can try this command (N-Series) or an
equivalent command on each switch that is participating in Spantree:

show spantree priority (to see the current priority)

Use the output to diagram the Root MAC, Root Priority, Root Cost, Root Port and
Bridge ID Priority for each switch participating in Spantree. Once you have
done this, you can decide which switch you want to be the Spantree Root Bridge
as well as secondaries etc then change the Bridge ID priority with this command
(N-Series) or an equivalent command on each switch that is participating in
Spantree:

set spantree priority (the lowest number will become the root bridge)

If you have a support contract (or not) Enterasys GTAC will be more than
willing to help you properly design your Spantree network.

Is the topology stable, or are you seeing repeated topology changes in your

Subject: [enterasys] Multiple Spanning Tree Issues

After attending a recent training at Enterasys, I found a problem in our
network. We currently have 23 devices, 3 of which are reporting as the Root
Bridge.

We are running MSTP and all of the switches are in the PGSD domain. The switch
we would like to be the root bridge has a priority of 0, the reset are set at
32768.

How can I resolve this issue? I tried disabling spantree on the two incorrect
bridges but that did not resolve the issue.
