In Consultant or Palm Desktop, there was a button next to the telephone
number field. A click on it would bring up a dialog box showing the number
and saying, basically, "Click to dial this number." You clicked, and the
number dialed on the modem. One of the PIMs (I forget which) told you to
click the button to close the box (I forget its name) within 30 seconds
after dialing started. The other, you had some number of seconds to pick up
after the person answered. Speaker phone would be one form of pickup.
Acid Jazz's behavior, hanging up after one or two rings (before anyone
answers, even), is ridiculous, I agree. I'm continuing to look at it to see
if there is some way to change that behavior.
