This is not exactly an Entourage problem, but it sure affects my ability to
efficiently read e-mail when I don't follow the prescribed work around
below.

I have a Sony Multiscan 300sf monitor hooked up to a B&W G3 350 MHz, with
128 MB RAM. I normally use a screen resolution of 1152x870, 75Hz or
1024x768, 85Hz when my eyes get tired. However after upgrading to OS 9.1
(from OS 8.6) the only choices I get for monitor resolution are 800x600,
832x624, and 1280x1024 all at 75Hz. Text and Icons are too large with
832x634 and too small with 12801024.

I did find out that if I turn the monitor off at the restart bong and then
back on 3-4 seconds later that the monitor control panel usually gives me
all of my old choices:
   640x480, 85Hz
   800x600, 85Hz
   832x624, 75Hz
   1024x768, 85Hz
   1152x870, 75Hz
   1280x1024, 75Hz

It seems that my monitor preferences are saved twice with the two choice
lists and my selections. In whichever mode is comes up in, the last
selection for that mode is still preserved. After installing software that
requires a reboot, the monitor list usually reverts to the smaller list
regardless of what I do. So then I just do a reboot from the Special Menu
and follow the work around above.

I've tried resetting the PRAM with the 4 finger salute (both with the
monitor on and the monitor off) with no effect. When I upgraded to OS 9.1 I
did a complete disk reformat and clean install of OS 9.04 and the downloaded
OS 9.1 update.

Any wizard have an idea what the problem is here and/or a permanent
solution.

TIA

   Jim Colgate
