Not true.

The Finder was scriptable in OS 8.5. The Finder has been scriptable as such
since OS 7.5, and before that as part of the FinderLib extension. It's easy
to check up this sort of information. Since nobody is using anything that
ancient, your analysis is not correct.  The fact that an error message is
describing things in terms of raw code is not the same thing as seeing
compiled scripts in raw code, and it does not mean that the version of the
Finder is not scriptable. It doesn't mean anything much at all except that
that is how those error messages have been programmed.
