Fair enough... but if you said that any feature that doesn't currently exist
should just be handled by AppleScript, then by that logic we would never
need to evolve past 1.0. Personally I feel that something as basic and
necessary as looking up a contact in your database should be handled pretty
efficiently by the application itself. It is, after all, supposed ot be a
Personal Information Manager.

Yes, which is why I said that the fix was beyond my scope, but must be
possible... to be honest, the only reason I put it in there was to make it
more clear why I thought some of the other points (name or company
contains..., for example) made sense.
