Well, there used to be tens to hundreds of thousands of people who could do
this with your car.  Nowadays the number is much, much smaller.

And if the problem lies in one of the embedded processors in your car, the
number is minuscule.


On the other hand, it's also not like most people are willing to leave their
computer in the hands of an application developer for a day or three while
they look at it.  ;-)

And I don't know how many times Chevy and Ford technicians have told me that
the designers were putting out crap, or using parts that they knew would
fail, etc, etc, etc. ;-)

So, all things considered, I think we need a better industry than the
automotive industry as a basis of comparison.
