None of that worked :-(. I emptied trash, but didn't restart the computer in
between each attempt. The Word prefs and PPC Registration Database got
rebuilt when I restarted Word (didn't bother to do Excel). Just one other
thing I thought of this morning (finally went to sleep last night) - when I
was trying to do a better back up job a month or so ago, I moved the Word
templates from the MS Office 2001 folder into my documents folder (since I
back that up more often than apps). Could that have messed something up?
