The filter box only filters by what is actually displayed in the column.
It's WYSIWYG, just like a Mac should be :-)

Seriously, the changing the filter to work by searching email addresses
would involve a total rearchitecture of this feature. If it were as easy as
flipping a bit some where, we would have done it by now.
