Title: Re: Wish: Add domain to filtering
Here's what I did that seemed to work.

I selected "Contains" instead of "Starts With" in the criteria popup.

I typed in "aol.com" and got a couple of matches.

On checking, I see what is happening; this is not checking the E-mail address, but the display name. In a few cases, where the sender did not provide a display name, the E-mail address is <copied> into that field; therefore, the filter finds it there. But if I have "John Doe" whose address is "[EMAIL PROTECTED]" and I type "mac.com", that message does not show up.

I see what you are asking for. Should be possible! I probably could throw together a quick AppleScript that would do it, or at least SELECT the messages you want (although the others would still be visible). Like this:

--Select by substring of address

tell application "Microsoft Entourage"
    set fldr to the displayed feature of the front window
    if class of fldr is not folder then
        display dialog "You must have a folder displayed to use this script: Select messages by address substring"
        return
    end if
    display dialog "Enter substring to search for in E-mail addresses" default answer ""
    set searchFor to text returned of result
    if searchFor is not "" then
        set msgs to every message of fldr
        set hits to {}
        repeat with amsg in msgs
            if searchFor is in address of sender of amsg then copy amsg to end of hits
        end repeat
    end if
    set the selection to hits
end tell

You can then drag the messages to someplace, or some such thing. One possibility to add to the script. Set up a folder you use for viewing the results of such searches, say it is called “Temp Copies”. Then add a few lines to the script just before “end tell”:

   repeat with anItem in hits
       duplicate anItem to folder "Temp Copies"

end repeat
   open folder "Temp Copies"

Duplicate selection to folder “Temp Copies”
