Actually, it does NOT use the serial port. It uses the ADB port with a pass-through connection.I stand corrected.

Either way, its future didn’t survive the iMac and USB. Its a shame because it is a create product that that keeps working with little or no fuss. Too bad there isn’t a modern USB device that replaces it. Even the stand alone CallerID boxes have yet to catch up.
