There is (or at least used to be) a product called YoYo from Big Island Software that did this. Unfortunately, it used its own phone book and could not link to another. Nevertheless, a very handy product.

I have a YoYo tied to my old 7200. It works just fine and does what you say. I like it because when it passes on the CallerID data to the Mac, it passes both the name and number. And, using PlainTalk, it will have the Mac announce the callers’ name. You don’t even have to look up to know who is calling.

Unfortunately it uses the Serial Port and Big Island Software stopped supporting the YoYo awhile back. I don’t believe it will work under System 9 and have kept my 7200 at System 8 for this reason. And the URL I have for Big Island is getting kicked back as IE can’t find the server.

YoYo works fine with OS 9.
