I am very glad to hear that MS has not ditched Entourage in Office 10 for
MacOS X! I sure hope the central address book concept is being used.
Already, I have seen third-party software using the MacOS X address book for
faxing. I guess I don't care whether Mail.app is extended by Entourage or
replaced, as long as MacOS X will allow as long as MacOS X will allow
specifying the e-Mail client at the system level, so all apps can hook to
the user-specified eMail app. The same would be true of the Address Book:
if MS can provide one much better than the MacOS X provided one, and if
there is a way that all apps can use an API to determine where the central
address book is (rather than hard-coding a link to the Apple address book),
then go for it!
