As the next version of Office is only going to run on OS X 10.1 it 
would be a reasonable assumption that you probably will need to run X 
to get it.

Also, an interesting point (given the original topic of this thread) 
that I just read in the TidBITS is that Palm Syncing won't be in the 
initial release of the next Office version (whatever it ends up being 
called).
