The only discernable difference is the absence of the colorful packaging and user manuals. It's delivered in a no-frills brown envelope, with a small promotional-type orange-yellow booklet, and the Office X CD-ROM. The help files and manual are on the disk. Personally, I'm glad MS offers a no-frills package.
