Paul, If by "hard data" you mean things like text that I might see on-screen, that's a good thing. On the other hand, I view "links" as important data as well. It's important for me to be able to open a contact item, and quickly see the e-mail and "notes" I've associated with that contact. I hope never to have to resort to a rebuild that deletes those links! This underscores for me the importance of keeping a reliable backup process that includes saving multiple copies of changed files (e.g. the Entourage database).
