Is there *ANY* hope to see Entourage 2001 rev'd up to support the new data
structures of Entourage v.X -- to allow interoperability of X and os9
versions of the application?

Since it is more than likely that users will continue to jump back and forth
between os9 and osX and that certain environments (corporate) won't make the
switch to osX for quite some time, it would seem like a smart thing to do,
to provide better compatibility between the two.

Not only that, but let's face it, the market for v.X is pretty slim right
now, and by providing a new rev of Entourage 2001 that converts to the new
structure, it will make it far easier for users to upgrade in the future.

Also, I understand that some of the fancy osX effects won't be possible
under os9 (I cry a river), but it is also a fact that the os9 version of
Entourage runs circles in speed around v.X - and that's NOT the fault of the
MacBU, but rather what they had to work with.

I'm currently running Entourage on a 667MHz G4, and it still takes
unforgivable delays to view a new message in the preview pane, or even to
just open a new blank message (when I can watch a window being drawn on a G4
system, you know something's foul) - when I start and run Entourage under
os9, everything is blindingly fast.

Personally, I feel like the MacBU has gotten a raw deal with the rush to get
Office v.X out he door, as they are certainly not responsible for the
molasses like performance that the OS hoists on it.

And, feature parity was possible with the IE browser - it'd be awesome if he
same could be possible for Entourage.

Possible?
