It is about the same. The opening of new messages that you mention is slower in OSX/EfX. It may be, as you suggest, an OS issue and not really MS's fault, I don't know, but otherwise EfX does everything else for me with as much speed as E2001 does on my wife's machine. (But this is totally subjective and my machine is a 667mHz PBG4 and my wife's is a 333mHz iMac).
