I don't think I even knew that newsgroups and news messages existed when i
wrote that script. You can do your own upgrade if you want, while waiting
for me to. 

1) Trash the signature script in your scripts menu folder.

2) Open the Signature Template applet in Script Editor. (You have to do this
from within Script Editor 's File/ Open menu, since if you double-click it
it will run instead.) the script is only about a dozen lines.

3) Change the line about half-way down:

    if class of theWind � draft window then

To:

    if {class of theWind} is not in {draft window, draft news window}


[You can just copy and paste that line in.]

4) Save and Close.

5) Run the Signature Template again.

Now it will work for news messages too. At least, I think it will. I've just
tested it in Entourage X, but I can't test in 2001 right now. I seem to
recall some sort of bug with 'draft news window' in Entourage 2001, but I
think it was just to do with recipient, not signature or anything else.
