Well, it worked in whatever OS I had at the time (probably 8.6). I can see
from inspecting the script that I must have just transferred it over from an
OE script - there's something I could have done better for Entourage (if,
like I have now, your MUD folder is not on your startup disk but on another
partition).
But that's not the bit you're having trouble with. I think you must be
running into a particular bug with OS 9.1 if you removed any of the 5
"Security Modules" from your Extensions folder. (Did you? Why?) There's
almost no script that will work for you, if they call any of the 'standard
additions', including plain old 'display dialog'. Or it could be something I
don't know about.
You should immediately upgrade either to:
OS 9.2.1 (but NOT 9.2.2, which has worse bugs)
OR just
AppleScript 1.6 (including Standard Additions 1.6)
AS 1.6 goes into Extensions folder, St. Add. 1.6 into Scripting Additions
folder.
In a few days or so, there will be a new OS update, or at least AS 1.8. and
CarbonLib 1.6 which will work with OS 9.2.2 or 9.2.3, When that happens,
wait a few days for reports (MacFixit, me), and that will be the way to go.
For now, get AS 1.6 or OS 9.2.1.
Let me know what happens.
