Hi Paul, Well we're getting somewhere, but not yet all the way home :-).
I changed the name to Signature Template and the script did install. I proceeded through the dialog boxes and chose a keyboard shortcut for a specific signature and it was accepted with no problem. The shortcut does appear on the Entourage Scripts menu on the submenu under Signatures. Then I tried to use it and when I pressed the keyboard shortcut I got a dialog box saying: "You can only change the signature of a new message window in the front. You do not have new message window in the front." Except that I do. Wait! Stop the presses! I was about to send this message, tried the signature shortcut again, and this time it worked. My previous experiment was with a reply to a newsgroup message. Does this script not work with newsgroup messages? I went back to the newsgroup, tried one more time and got the same dialog box. Thanks for sticking with me through this.
