It's always hard to determine what is acceptable "speed," but my wife has the iMac SE graphite and is currently running OS X on it (it's an office machine, I'm at home, and I can't recall how much memory is installed, but it's certainly less that a gig -- might be 640). It runs acceptably fast to her, and when I do diagnostics and maintenance on it, I don't notice that it's unreasonably slow (I'm used to a PowerBook/667). All this by way of saying: do you think something else is going on?
