repeat my response...

In my experience -- I'm open to correction -- the more apps you use, the
slower X goes, until it seems to have no direct bearing on processor speed
at all...

At least, it (rarely) crashes or freezes! I'm eager for Jaguar, to help move
things along. I'm annoyed that Apple is charging me another hefty fee for
it.

My troubles appear to be consistent with other users of similar
program-loads. Oh, if I use just one or two apps everything runs faster.
Unfortunately, that's a luxury my deadlines can ill afford.
