There's nothing new in that. The difference with OS X is that applications don't have specific allocations, they take what they need until you run out. Even so , the MS programs _work_ with the minimum, they're just not comfortable or fast. They're not the only ones - all the big programs are the same. you should try Virtual PC if you want to see _slow_. I'm sorry, but you must be very new to computers or somewhat naive if you're just discovering this fact of life for the first time. RAM is not unduly expensive - for 1/20th or 1/30th the price of getting a better, faster computer model, you can achieve the same increase in performance by buying a good amount of RAM. The more the better. You could have chosen to stay in OS 9 for 2 or 3 more years. Once you make the move to X, go the whole way and get the amount of RAM needed to make everything work nicely. As far as Entourage goes - if it's the only app where you feel slow at the moment - archive and delete your messages and you'll be back to where you were a few months ago. If that suits you fine, keep cleaning it out like that. You sure grumble a lot. You'd be a lot happier just buying more RAM. -- Paul Berkowitz -- To unsubscribe: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> archives: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.letterrip.com/> old-archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/entourage-talk%40lists.boingo.com/>
