This has just been sent to me by someone on another list:

It seems to work in IE. Yesterday I was looking at the O'Reilly web site and
text was disappearing all over the place, I just unchecked Enable Quartz
text smoothing and no problems with it now. I've just done the same in
Entourage (it's in General Preferences) and while text display isn't that
great, at least it isn't shifting and changing all the time which was
becoming really annoying.

Seems like it is now down to the Entourage and IE teams to get their
products to work with Quart Smoothing.
