Hi Dan

Mac OS X 10.2.1, dual USB iBook 500. (This was also happening in 10.1, and
in 10 judging by the replies I got on the OS X list.)

In IE (v5.2.1) when you open a web site there will often be text and
graphics missing in the display. It's there, if you just move your mouse
around on the blank areas it will re-appear. Sometimes you have to click to
get the missing items to appear. Refresh doesn't always do it. And revealing
a missing item will quite often mean text that was visible before disappears
somewhere else. Happens on a very wide range of sites, Version Tracker,
O'Reilly, you name it.

In Entourage (v10.1.0 (2006) with SR 1) sometimes the text you're typing
will randomly appear and disappear as you type. As before it is there and
you can get it to display by running your mouse over it. You can cut and
paste into a new message and still have the same thing happen if you
continue typing. Interestingly the saw tooth underline for a spelling error
remains visible even when the text isn't!

Switching off smoothing in both IE and Entourage seems to have stopped it
happening, at least I haven't experienced it since I did this yesterday. And
yesterday it was particularly bad, almost to the point where I couldn't type
at all it was so distracting. Switching it back on now is it happening
again? No. But then this comes and goes anyway.

It appears to happen in Word too. I haven't used Word very much so I can't
comment but this is Joan Keenan's reply to the message I posted on the OS X
list about this issue with the 'fix':

I hope this explains the problem clearly enough. Please get back to me if
you'd like more information.
