Ditto for me on all this.  I tried changing mice, uninstalling 
Logitech's control center, changing keyboards, etc.  Last night I 
turned off text-smoothing in IE, and had no more problems with 
disappearing text.  I have avoided using Entourage for that reason, but 
will try it today.
