I have experienced a few slowdowns as a result of something hogging the CPU. Is the slowness you experience only in Entourage? I use a little menu haxie called Cee Pee U (freeware) that shows the percentage of CPU use in the menu bar. Very simple, very useful. When I see the CPU use pegged at 100% or near it, constantly, when nothing much is happening, I start looking for the culprit. Some programs seem prone to running wild:
