The thing I'd like to see sped up is responsiveness when deleting messages.
If I have a window displaying a list of messages with one message selected,
pressing and holding the backspace key deletes the selected message, then
the next, and so on. But when I release the backspace key, messages continue
to get deleted until Entourage catches up - unless I slow the key repeat
rate in keyboard preferences to a sluggardly crawl.

Deleting messages in OE, running in OS 9 on the same G4 867, is about 3
times as fast, and Entourage X generally feels only about as responsive as
OE did on my old 9500.

But perhaps the blame should not directed entirely at MicroSoft. In many
applications, stuff in OS X is slower than on older systems. VirtualPC 6,
for example, stutters along woefully in X (OMM), but shines in 9. When I
need to use it, it's well worth the hassle of rebooting and doing without
the fancy X-only features just for the performance boost.

However, I can't honestly say the same about using OE in preference to
Entourage, so I guess I should be thankful for that.
