I, being the original language mutilator in this thread, agree with you whole heartedly. Being one who accidentally does speak a functional amount of Spanish—especially food related--I cringe every time I hear folks pronounce the word "chipotle" as (chi�pole�tay). I always think: "Damn Americans can't speak other languages phonetically or make good tamales!"
(chi�pote�le) mmm... I generally love all Mexican food.
