What you need to try is to run the remove office about 3 times until there is no office on your mac ( you will need to restart the mac and then empty the trash) The what you want to do is to go to the user\library\preferences\Microsoft\microsoft office settings (10) this file needs to be trashed then you should try to install office again using the drag and drop install instead of the office assistant.
