Sorry, but this is piffle. Microsoft is doing the safe thing. If you crash,
there's a very strong possibility that you could lose data, including
messages on the server - which might not have downloaded yet, or might have
not been saved to the database. In a crash, there's no way of knowing for
sure, since all the usual checks are omitted. So it's the safe thing to
download again. They're not going to remove that safety net because there's
some individual (you -represent 1/100oth of a percent of users) risking beta
testing with this setup.

You have four choices:

1. Stop beta testing
2. Stop leaving messages on the server
3. Get an IMAP account, the smart option
4. Put up with it
