I don't know about "usual", but I have been told that several Fortune 100 companies are moving away from Domino servers and the reason I was told was the client is/was "un-friendly" to the end user. I got this second hand so it may not be entirely correct. I have seen conversations between mail administrators that generally denigrate Domino servers whine about Exchange moderately and generally say the *nix mail servers are more "adaptable". YMMV

That's interesting. Is it normal for an office to use a Lotus Domino server - presumably for internal mail - but also allow you to use your own client like Entourage, rather than whatever they supply to you, to send and receive email?
