Not necessary. Problems like this are almost always down to corruption in
the keychain. Deleting the entry and letting Entourage remake it has worked
in every example I have come across.

Total crap. Mine are _always_ over that level. There is nothing special
about those mail folders - Eudora used to carry the index for In, Out & sent
in memory, so could get sluggish if those mailboxes held _thousands_ of
mails, not hundreds. There's no reason why entourage can't carry thousands
of mails in those boxes. Currently I have about 1500 messages in those three
folders.

Which may be true (pre SP2), but has nothing to do with the fact that
entourage is unable to access the password stored in the keychain.

I doubt it, but thanks for contributing anyway. While I disagree strongly
with the info you got form MS Tech Support, that's not your fault - it's
theirs. I hope you get better service next time.
