Kouta,

Thanks for your reply. Generating this list will be an ongoing project. So if
you will not have much time for a couple months, that is not a problem. I can
lookup sites on Metacrawler and do the English ones, and muddle through the
Spanish and French sites. They really don't need to be translated, so much as
listed, once it is determined they contain worthwhile material.

There should be several levels of detail in different listings. First I would
like to get something for most countries in Europe even if it is only general
information. From there I would like to have links to good descriptions of
various forests, even if they are not old growth. The main focus would be to
find descriptions of the old growth areas. I want to include as many of those
as possible in whatever language they might be written. The links would be
organized by country. I understand that it may not be of great interest to
you, but I want to include in the list links to famous or historic trees in
various countries as they are of broad general public interest.

There are often various scientific papers available on the web. Some of these
contain good descriptions of various forests in their texts, and if they do so,
they should be included. Others are not of general interest and can be left
out. I don't think there should be a minimum size for old growth forests to be
included on the listing. If there is a site that talks about a handful of old
trees in Germany, why not include it? Articles about forest fires, commercial
tree production, and similar links are not generally worth including unless
they contain some significant information on the forests not available
elsewhere.

Communications can be by private email rather than post to the entire list once
this basic organizational discussion is completed. I will post what I find to
the ENTS website as I update the website and will incorporate what other send
to me at the same time. It will be online for you to review.
