I did not get to Bialowieza--I will have to do that on the next trip to 
Poland. There were just to many things to do while I was in Europe. I 
did see the oldest oaks in Poland, including the one with a 
circumference of 9.3 m, thought to be 600 years old, which is on the 
grounds of a palace near Poznan. I also saw some maple, oak and linden 
forests there that are very similar to our 'Bigwoods' in Minnesota. Same 
genera of trees, same landform (loess on top of glaicial moraines), same 
species of earthworms (native in Poland but exotic in Minnesota).

I might be able to go to the primal forests conference in Sweden next 
August.
