Jenny-

Yes, a true cedar, likely *Cedrus libani*, Cedar-of-Lebanon.

Many North American native trees area used as ornamentals in Europe, asnd
for some reason they are often the ones that are out of favor back in North
Ameica: silver maple, box-elder, and black locust as examples.

Temperate Europe has a relative paucity of native tree species compared with
North America and eastern Asia, so many of the garden or landscape trees are
exotics---there are no magnolias, tuliptrees, tupelos, hickories, red oaks,
or hemlocks native to Europe, just to name a few.
