Don, You could look for the fastest bird of each species to make it more sporting. Trees don't move, but that doesn't mean all of the species present in a section of woods are easy to find if you aren't told where to look. Maybe you could not only check the tree off, but would have a column for GPS or girth, so there was something more than just checking it off.
