this sounds like a perception and relative viewing problem.

Resolution through the view finder is quite different than that of the
film. we can much more easily percieve degress of focus in a print than
throught the view finder. Things that are obviously out of focus will
appear that way both through the viewer and on film. Parts of picture that
we might describe as "unsharp" when we look at film may look quite ok
through the view finder - I think this may boils down to a magnification
issue.

Not to mention your eye is seeing the real thing in 3D and the print in 2....
