Well, that can't be true because others here are saying that the TCs won't
permit autofocus with a 100-400 on an A2, and those 3 pieces of equipment
have nothing to do with the new 1v, or even the 3. We may just be having a
breakdown of communication here, so to try to clarify let me try to restate
my question: The info posted on the B&H website, which most likely came
directly from Canon, states that the teleconverters are compatible with
lenses A, B, C, D, E, F and G. It then goes on to state that you must focus
manually with lenses A, B and C. Why would they say that, if in fact you
must also focus manually with lens D, unless used on an EOS 3 or 1v, which
may not have even been in existence at the time? Oy, that doesn't sound very
clear either...I hope someone understands what I'm trying to say...

I understand all that...I just don't understand why it isn't made clear that
the 100-400 won't autofocus with a TC unless you use it on an EOS 3 or 1v.

Uh, what kind of dog, and what size bag of food? If you'd performed that
test here, with my 220 lb. mastiff's massive bag of food, I think you could
stop down to 22 with 2 TCs and still autofocus from a block away :)
