Bob - my ElanII does a wonderful job on backlit subjects, what metering
mode are you using. I use Partial Metering and always use the center
spot for focusing, I do this in almost all of my photos and usually I am
not disappointed with them. Maybe my standards are lower than yours but
I don't hear anyone else complaining of my pictures so I must be doing
something correct. I shoot only print film but have also done the same
with slides and bracketing and sometimes no bracketing and again no
complaints. Don't get me wrong here, not all my pictures turn out to be
good ones but the exposures are generally ok on most of them.
