Just get an Omnibounce and your 380EX will cover the 20mm nicely. Even
when it's not tilted and bounced. See my webpage for a sample shot using
this with the EF 20-35 indoors at 20mm. (Omnibounce Test, Page 2)

You can reverse the EF 20-35's lens hood and keep it on your camera in
the bag. My lens cap goes immediately in my pocket after removal :-)

Congrats on the excellent choice of lens, I am enjoying my EF 20-35 very
much, and use it more than any other lenses I have. Recently I photographed
a group of people working outdoors and indoors making ricecakes here in
Japan. I took only my EOS and EF 20-35 with 380EX. I shot at all different
zoom lengths. Never did I want for another lens. I kept my 380EX mounted and
ready and used it in all photos. The results were excellent, not one photo
looked like a flash was used. I forgot the omnibounce, but it didn't matter,
my flash was only doing fill outside, so any 20mm shots didn't show any
cutoff on the edges. The flash however, really did a nice job of lighting
people's faces naturally - without it the bright sun of mid day would have
given me dark shadows on faces and eyes. All shots were taken in P mode with
no thought about anything but framing and shooting. I was using Superia 800
film which I love, and it gave me a super depth of field with the wide
angle, and made the few interior shots I took look very natural indeed.
I must add here that my EOS 10 and 380EX only uses TTL. I have no idea
what difference E-TTL might have made, it's hard to imagine better results
than I got. It might have caused some blinking due to preflash, I'll never
know :-)
