The 65mm Macro is a very specialized lens, while the 100mm Macro can (and should!)
also be used for non macro purposes. So, unless you are willing to spend big bucks
on (or absolutely need) a lens that does macro "only", you are way better off
with the 100mm macro.

I don't know this specific lens, but I imagine a tripod mount will give more
stability when you are shooting verticals. Especially if your tripod isn't
rocksolid (and who carries a REAL rocksolid tripod in the field). It's also
much easier to switch from horizontal to vertical without fiddling around
with the tripod and your framing.

Yes, at least in some situations. But a lens hood is useful when you use the
lens for "normal" shooting.
