With the 65 you can get that shadow effect without a hood: easily.

On the old 100 macro the integral hood (recessed front element) is
highly effeicient. For times when I'm shooting (macro) towards the
sun and there is still light spillage I just use a screw in rubber
lens hood (1 dollar from a camera fair) or just a piece of black card
abd blu-tack. Yes: I do carry both in the field.
