Yes, the body makes a difference.  How much difference
depends on the subject and lighting.

The 3 is noticeably better than either of the other
cameras in predictive AF.  It seems somewhat better in
dim light, and with smaller aperture lenses.

In bright light, with a static, high contrast subject,
you'll never notice the difference.  Shooting football
(either kind), or other fast moving action, the
difference is significant.

I've never compared the 1n and A2, but I believe the
1n has faster processers and better AF algorithms that
will also result in an improvement over the A2.
