If the negative is clear then the negatives were never exposed, it could be
the mirror or shutter mechanism, which you can check by setting the shutter
speed to a slow speed such as 1 second, 2 seconds etc, trip the shutter
release and observe if the mirror goes up and that the shutter curtain/blade
opens up such that you can see from the back of the camera through the lens
opening, you should do this with the lens on and off.
Some other possibilities are accidentally hit mid-roll rewind, but that
sound unlikely in your case, or if you accidentally set the camera to manual
mode with a small aperture and/or super fast shutter speed while shooting in
a very dark environment, again this sounds unlikely.
You should have the camera checked or replaced if no reasonable explanation
exists.
