With manual-loading cameras, you can sometimes get a useable image at frame 00
(although personally I always "wasted" that frame just to be sure). Also with
manual-load cameras, the film doesn't line up exactly the same way every time,
so sometimes the images line up under the "A" numbers (1A, 2A, etc.), and in
those cases using that number instead of 1, 2, etc. can be useful when having
enlargements made, if you want to be sure they choose the correct frame.
