I use a EF 50mm F1.4, here are my reasons:

  * Full time manual focusing (fantastic combined with CF4)
  * Focus distance window (with absolutely useless DOF), IR compensation mark
  * Metal vs. polycarbonate mount
  * A bit more solid construction

Since most lens are best 2 stops down, the f1.4 starts to shine at f2.8;
vs. 3.6 for the f1.8.

Last night, I was at a lecture by Angela Davis. Front row seats, Kodak
Tri-X at EI400, natural light (I don't believe in blinding my heroes).
Most of the shots were f1.8-2.0 @ 1/60-80. It was nice knowing that I
wasn't shooting at the absolute widest aperture and knowing that I had a
bit of leeway.

Of course if I had a 100mm f1.8, that would have been even better. :)
