I haven't used the 24-85, but it, the 28-105 and 28-135 are all optically in
the same class: very good consumer zoom (not in the 28-70L amazingly good
zoom class, but still good).
Your choice comes down to size, price, and 24-28 vs. 85-135 + IS.
I use the 28-135IS most of the time, and it is very good. The IS
really does work, so well that I try to take pictures I shouldn't
(like kids that are moving that come out total blurs at 1/8 but with
a razor sharp background :-)
