I have narrowed my decision to either the 24-85 f/3.5-4.5 or the 28-135
f/3.5-5.6 IS. I'm looking for opinions on either of these two. Does either
one have perform significantly better then the other? Does the "IS" really
work? Does it degrade the image when in use?
Thanks,
Richard

Richard,
Yesterday, I had opportunity to use a Contax N1 on assignment. I had their
24-85mm lens and Contax Flash.
TO make a long story short, the Contax ran the first roll of film but the
next 2 failed (jammed).
The flash gave me problems and I sorely missed the IS feature of the
28-135mmm lens.
Although tempted by the Zeiss lens quality, I for one will not change my
28-135mm for any lens, especially
when you need it in low light. Buy the 28-135mm IS lens, you will not be
sorry.
Not too happy!
