You and I are probably the only ones on this list who would admit to owning
an APS SLR. I own the IX, and like it a lot for portability, etc. If you are
shooting predominately snapshots (i.e. 4x6 prints), I don't think you'll see
much difference with a 35mm camera. That's my opinion, but YMMV. My "real"
cameras are an Elan IIe and EOS 3, and I would bet that if you're looking
for a used body, the Elan IIe will be a great value for you. It has ECF
(only 3 ECF points, though), and unlike the Elan 7e (and my IX), it doesn't
have that annoying white focus assist light. Your 22-55mm is not a
particularly great lens, but the 28-105 is a classic and I'm not sure the
28-135 will be as sharp (I've only had mine a short while and the jury is
still out). Also, the 28-135 is  MUCH bigger than what you have today, so
size might be an issue.

I hope it takes less thatn 7 years for the digital bodies to become
affordable!
